Britney Spears Berhenti Bernyanyi?

Setelah meluncurkan single terbarunya yang berjudul Hold It Agaisnt Me, Britney Spears mempunyai rencana akan berhenti dari musik. Kabar ini akan mengejutkan belantika musik dunia, pasalnya Britney baru saja merilis album terbarunya yang berjudul FEMME FATALE.
Britney mengemukakan alasan pengunduran dirinya dari dunia musik apabila dirinya merasa dikecewakan dan tidak membuatnya bahagia. Britney memilih untuk membesarkan dua anaknya, Sean Preston dan Jayden James dari hasil perkawinannya dengan mantan suaminya Kevin Frederline.

What is that? - First impressions of Korean Food

When I first arrived in Korea my new employer immediately took me out for dinner. We found a small hole in the wall restaurant and he ordered food for the whole table. After fifteen minutes, waves of dishes started making their way to our table, and soon our entire table was flooded with a variety of small dishes. I scanned the table and I couldn't identify a single dish, a terrifying thought for a fussy eater like myself. After I sampled some of the table's offerings, my boss turned to me and asked "So what do you think of the dog soup?" Shocked and confused I turned to face him only to be met with smiles and chuckles.

I will be the first to admit that my knowledge on food, even of the western variety, is fairly limited. And when I arrived in Korea I might have well been on another planet with all the unidentifiable foods I came across. On this alien planet one dish in particular managed to

Now, if your talking staples, then along with sticky rice, Kimchi has to be considered one of Korea's favourite dishes. Kimchi is made by fermenting seasoned vegetables and it comes in hundreds of different forms. This 2600 to 3000 years old dish generally has a varying degree of spice to it, and the number of different types is staggering. There is nabak kimchi (radish water kimchi), oi sobagi (stuffed cucumber kimchi), yeolmu kimchi (young summer radish Kimchi), gat kimchi (leaf mustard kimchi), pa kimchi (green onion kimchi), vangbaechu kimchi (western cabbage kimchi), gul kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi mixed with oysters), and many more. Kimchi is also one of the healthiest Korean foods. Even "Health" magazine placed it in the top five of the world's healthiest foods. Kimchi is an important part of Korea's sense of identity and it is embedded in their culture and history. Families even enjoy this spicy cabbage with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There is so much variety in the food found in Korea that I would be doing the culture a disservice by trying to mention it all in this post. But some of the main dishes in Korea are the following: boiled/sticky rice (the staple of the Korean diet), guk (soup), tang (thick soup), ijigae (stew), namul (vegetable dishes), gui (grilled dishes), sanjoek (beef and vegetable brochettes), iijim,(pan-fried dishes), pickled and dried foods, hoe (raw fish or meat), ssam (vegetable leaft wraps), and muk (jelly).

When you find yourself sitting at a Korean table, there are a number of cultural factors to consider. One of the most important is to show respect for those older than you. Traditionally, the order at which one sits at a dining table is arranged according to rank, with the youngest being seated closest to the door, and the eldest at the head of the table. When consuming alcohol it is courteous to pour the glass of the eldest first with two hands and, when receiving or being poured drinks, do so with either two hands on the glass or with one hand on your chest. This is a polite gesture and is made out of respect for elders. Another interesting cultural point of etiquette is when actually drinking alcohol with an older person, it is customary to turn away before you drink, as not to be seen drinking it. And when somebody older than you offers you a drink, you should try to oblige him or her, as rejecting this gesture could be considered offensive.

Because a lot of the Korean dining experience is a social affair, it is considered polite to not finish your food before others, especially with those older than you present. As with most western cultures, once the head of the family starts eating the rest of the table follows. Observing basic table manners shows cultural sensitivity and respect. As a foreigner you will largely be forgiven for any lapse in this regard but taking note of some of these will put you in good standing.

In 1991 five country boys ventured out into the mountains to catch salamanders and were never seen again. Their bodies were then discovered in 2004 but investigators were still unable to determine exactly why these young lives were prematurely taken. Now, in 2011, Lee Kyoo-man brings us "Children...", a crime thriller that is currently dominating at the top of the Korean box office.

Director and scriptwriter Lee Kyoo-man first made a name for himself when he won the grand prix at the Korea Motion Picture Festival with his independent film "Despair". And in 2007 he released "Return", a mystery thriller in which Lee Kyoo-man expressed his directorial interest in the thriller genre. With the "frog boys" true story as fodder, Lee Kyoo-man has presented the boys' story from an interesting perspective that sways between fact and fiction.

The Story and Characters

Unlike the 1992 film "Come Back Frog Boys", this film tells the story of a discredited documentary producer (Park Yong-woo as Kang Ji-seung) as he attempts to get his career back on tracks. Kang Ji-seung finds himself back in Daegu having been exposed as a fraud in his previous documentary. He discovers a taped interview from professor Hwang Woo-hyeok (Ryoo Seoung-yong), in which the professor alludes to inconsistencies in some of the parents' statements and actions. Hungry for a controversial angle on a breakthrough story, Kang Ji-seung persuades the professor to explore with him the hypothesis that the boys' parents were somehow involved in the tragedy.

The two's investigation is shunned by the local detective and their insinuations are frowned upon by the parents and the local community. Despite this, the producer and professor examine the discrepancies in the reported accounts given by the parents. The two become engrossed in the possibility that their theories hold merit, with both men hoping that their inquiry will yield career-advancing prospects.

Finally convincing local authorities that one of boys' parents were involved, they gain permission to search the Jong's family home. Under a barrage of journalists, photographers and locals, the professor points out two places under their home where he believes the bodies to be. It's a tense moment as both Kang Ji-seung and the professor put their names on the line in the hope of a discovery. Yet nothing but a young girl's shoe in found, and the two find their credibility as professionals in tatters.

Years later, the detective on the case (Seong Dong-il) provides Kang Ji-seung with the name and address of a possible suspect. This information was provided to Kang off the record, as there was no hard evidence to make a full inquiry. On his own accord, Kang attempts to find the man suspected by the detective. In the suspect's absence, Kang enters his house and discovers that this just might be the man who has eluded capture. However Kang's intrusion does not go unnoticed and the suspect briefly detains Kang's daughter after school to remind him what might happen if he presses matters further.

Kang then confronts him at the cattle slaughterhouse where he works. There he finds more clues that strongly link the suspicious man to the boys' murders. Kang directly engages the man but realises that there is ultimately not enough evidence to prosecute him with the statute of limitations on the case having expired.

Final Thoughts

The first half of the film manages to be more factual in terms of the actually accounted events. The day the boys went missing is nicely dramatized and does well to capture the despair and desperation of the parents as they keep hope that their sons are still alive. Our protagonist is also well introduced and framed as an unlikeable manipulator of stories and people. The professor's theories and suspicions are made to seem plausible and, through Lee Kyoo-man's sleek visuals, make the audience believe the two are really on to something. Even the parents themselves are made to seem dubious. It takes a skilled storyteller to invoke such a response when dealing with actual events in a new light.

I made the mistake of watching Bong Joon-ho's "Memories of Murder" (2003) right before watching "Children..." . As a result I was highly unimpressed with how this film concluded. Its sensationalised final scenes planted a false sense of catharsis in me that took away from the whole mystery of the story. "Memories of Murder" was also based on a real unsolved murder, but its conclusion was far more tactful and subtle. In both films the suspect is still at large but in "Children..." we have a definite face to direct our emotions to. I did not enjoy this and it failed to add anything substantial to the film. And as I walk away from the cinema I felt cheated out of a satisfying ending to what was otherwise a great film. Maybe Lee Kyoo-man put too much of himself into Kang Ji-seung's character, because with his sensationalistic choices in the final scenes, the true mystery went out the window.

Fabregas 'feeling really good'

Cesc Fabregas remains optimistic he will be fit to face Barcelona and believes having time off after sustaining the injury means he will "come back stronger".
Fabregas has been out of action since being forced off with a hamstring problem during the victory over Stoke on February 23, and he has not been included in the squad for Saturday's game against Sunderland.
However, although it is not yet certain whether he will be fit to make his return to the Camp Nou on Tuesday, he is upbeat about his chances.
"As far as my injury is concerned, I am feeling really good at the moment," he wrote in his programme notes for Saturday's game. "I am doing everything I possibly can to get ready as soon as I can.
"Physically I feel good and it was good to have a bit of a rest too because I am sure I will come back stronger.
"It may have even been possible for me to be on the bench for today's game, but we decided together that it would be better for me to rest well instead, have a good training session on Sunday, take a look Monday and then hopefully fly to Barcelona.
"I am optimistic that everything should be okay for Tuesday."
Arsenal have already confirmed Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott have no chance of featuring against Barcelona, while Alex Song is a serious doubt.
Barca, meanwhile, have been boosted by goalkeeper Victor Valdes' return to fitness, although Carles Puyol has yet to recover full fitness.
"[Valdes] is able to play," assistant coach Tito Vilanova said in Friday's press conference ahead of the meeting with Real Zaragoza. "He trained this morning and this evening, and felt perfect.
"The best thing would be for [Puyol] is to recover properly. There is one more training session, so tomorrow we'll see - we don't want to force the player."
Vilanova took charge of the press conference as Pep Guardiola has been troubled by a slipped disc, but Sport reports that he has been given the all-clear to return to the bench for Saturday's game.
